An unconvetional show in a conventional space, BE THE ART is an exhibition of student art that calls attention to race- and class-related elitism in the art world. BE THE ART provides an alternative space for a community of student artists and allies both inside and outside of the Wesleyan Art and Art History Department. The show is a gesture of nuanced critique that invites critical discussion, reflection, and involvement in celebration of a wide spectrum of artistic expression.
